On September 10th and 13th, 2024, the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Department conducted laboratory safety training lectures during the orientation for the 2024 freshmen, with a total of approximately 1,100 new undergraduate and graduate students participating.
The laboratory safety orientation lectures aimed to cultivate safety awareness, strengthen the overall understanding of laboratory safety, and lay a solid foundation for the smooth conduct of scientific research and study.Huang Jin, the Training Supervisor of the EHS Department, introduced the department's functions, the LabEHS management system, and related resources to the audience. Starting with classic cases of laboratory safety accidents in universities, she elaborated on laboratory hazard identification, personal protection and behavioral norms, management systems, as well as laboratory emergency facilities, equipment, and their usage.
In addition to classroom training, the EHS Department also prepared brand-new lab coats and laboratory safety manuals for the 2024 undergraduate students. Furthermore, EHS will continue to carry out various forms of EHS safety cultural education to further enhance the safety awareness of teachers and students and foster a positive safety culture atmosphere.
