The Office of Environmental Health and Safety organized a training session on laboratory safety work in universities, which started with the launch of the 2023 University Laboratory Safety Inspection Meeting.
On the morning of April 7th, the Department of Science, Technology and Information of the Ministry of Education, along with the Department of Higher Education, organized the opening ceremony of the second thematic training class on laboratory safety work in universities, as well as the launch of the 2023 University Laboratory Safety Inspection Meeting. The Office of Environmental Health and Safety organized safety administrators from various colleges and institutes to participate in this training via video conference, with those who were unable to attend in person due to business travel participating online through their mobile devices.
During the meeting, Zhang Guohui, Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Information of the Ministry of Education, delivered a speech. He emphasized the importance of recognizing the significance of laboratory safety work in universities and deployed key tasks for the laboratory safety work in 2023. Ai Desheng, Deputy Director of the Laboratory Management Office of Tsinghua University, gave a detailed and comprehensive interpretation of the Code of Practice for Laboratory Safety in Higher Education and the Checklist for Laboratory Safety Inspection in Universities (2023).
The training conveyed the latest requirements for laboratory safety work in universities. Firstly, laboratory safety work in universities is of great significance to the safety of teachers and students, the development of the school and social stability. Secondly, it is necessary to regularly investigate and rectify safety hazards, form a closed-loop management, prevent the occurrence of safety accidents, and establish a sound system for holding people accountable for safety. Thirdly, it is important to attach great importance to the laboratory safety inspections carried out by the Ministry of Education and the Education Commission, carefully prepare for them, make up for the shortcomings, achieve full coverage of safety education, enhance the safety awareness of teachers and students, and do a good job in laboratory safety inspections.
In the future, our university will implement the spirit of the meeting, do a good job in all aspects of laboratory safety inspection, and promote the continuous improvement of laboratory safety management.
