To All Colleges, Institutes and Centers,
Waste and idle chemicals occupy valuable laboratory space, and the presence of hazardous chemicals in them also increases safety and exposure risks.
According to the requirements for chemical storage, the findings of recent safety inspections, and the feedback needs of teachers and students, our office decided to carry out a special inventory of idle and discarded chemicals in the laboratory. The relevant matters are hereby notified as follows:
1. Scopes
All laboratories involving chemicals in the school and the attached preparation rooms, storage rooms, studios and other places.

Today ~ Feb.28,2022 | Inventory ing at Lab | 1) All School, Institutes, and Centers start inventorying idle chemicals (not in-use recently), and discarded (or expired) chemicals at all labs. Note icals need to be transferred or disposed of. 2) Information on highly toxic chemicals and controlled substances such as psychotropic narcotics must be reported in the attached form submitted to the EHS Department. |
Marh 1 – April 30, 2022 | Idle Chemicals | EHS will announce a list of idle chemicals to be reclaimed by labs in need. |
May 2022 | Dispose of Chemicals | Inventorying and identifying unclaimed idle chemicals and discarded chemicals. Disposed of unused chemicals by authorized companies according to National Catalogue of Hazardous Wastes. |
