In order to improve the safety awareness and emergency response capabilities of teachers and students, ShanghaiTch University's 2020 fire/laboratory safety emergency drill was held in the School of Information Science and Technology (SIST) on November 13, 2020.
The main task of this fire drill is to carry out an emergency drill to prevent laboratory fire accidents, so that teachers and students can use the methods of emergence response to avoid fire hazards in the laboratory, and be familiar with emergency evacuation procedures and routes to ensure that in the event of a fire , emergency response plan will kick start quickly, run efficiently and in an orderly manner, and protect the lives of teachers and students to the utmost extent.
In order to achieve the actual emergency response effect, this exercise requires teachers, students, and property personnel to participate in rescue and emergency evacuation under normal working conditions. In order to ensure that the expected results are achieved, the EHS Office, the Office of General Services (OGS), SIST, and Shangqin Property Management jointly set up a work team to review the drill plan, set the goal, principle and scale of the drill, and make careful arrangements.
At 10 o'clock in the morning on November 13, the fire drill officially started. According to the plan, the basement corridor of Building 1 of SIST simulated the fire scene, and then the fire alarm was sounded in the building, the SIST immediately activated the emergency plan, the Office of General Services immediately organized the emergency response team to the scene, and the alert team pulled up the safety tape to set the zone , the medical rescue team quickly treated the wounded, and the fire rescue team entered the fire scene to put out the fire.
After receiving the report from the laboratory safety officer, the EHS Office coordinated with OGS to instruct the on-site firefighting rescue team to transfer gas cylinders from the lab based on the conditions of the surrounding laboratories at the fire site. After the teachers and students of the college heard the alarm, the person in charge of each floor responded calmly and guided the teachers and students to evacuate quickly according to the escape route. During the evacuation process, all members should remain calm, obey orders, help each other, and effectively protect themselves by bending over to lower their center of gravity, and covering their mouth and nose with their hands.
After the personnel evacuated the dangerous area, they gathered at the assembly point of SIST, and the office manager immediately organized a head count. During the evacuation, the property search and rescue team checked the toilets, office areas and other places one by one to ensure that no one left out in the building. The entire drill was tense and orderly, and the exercise achieved the expected results.
This event was jointly organized by the OGS and EHS, undertaken by the SIST, and co-organized by Shangqin Property Management and University Medical Clinic. Director of Campus Affairs and the OGS, Chen Yuankai served as the site commander in chief, and Wang Dongming, Director of the Office of EHS, and Assistant Dean Zhou Pingqiang of the SIST, served as the site deputy commanders. Deputy Dean Yu Jingyi of the SIST, local fire control and public security were for on-site observation and guidance.
